Funding has been received for the first 3.2 miles - from Boyne City to Young State Park - of the 14-mile trail.  The section should be completed in 2013.  The Boyne City to Charlevoix Trail Group raised $18,000 in local matching funds (thanks in part to a very successful fundraiser at Red Mesa Grill in Boyne City) to qualify for state and federal funding.  The group is now raising funds for the second segment that is 6.2 miles long.  A third segment, 5.7 miles in length, is in the planning phase.  When completed, the trail will follow the Charlevoix-Boyne City Road right of way through Horton Bay and connect to the Little Traverse Wheelway near the Charlevoix Country Club.
