Never-ending Trail Maintenance: Bill vs. Root Bumps!

Root bumps are the bane of many a trail rider. Sometimes invisible, often bone-jarring, and always startling, root bumps are the unwanted speed bumps on our paved recreational trails.

The Trails Council recognizes these obstacles as major safety hazards. Bill and volunteers do their level best to address this “growing” issue. Last summer, Bill and company knocked down dozens of major bumps in the seven-mile paved section of the North Western State Trail.

The Trails Council staff is small and limited in its abilities. We rely on trail partners in county, state, and township government to assist with trail safety and maintenance.
